A peach/strawberry smoothie to stimulate your creativity

Smoothies are my go-to breakfast when I do not know what to have. However, I only have 2 recipes: cacao or peanut butter. It’s not for the lack of recipes out there but I rarely find anything that feel appealing or for which I have all the ingredients. So I stay safe and keep making the same smoothies over and over again, with a few tweaks here and there.

However, this changed a few days ago. One of my friends was telling me about all the amazing smoothies she was making. Especially one with mango. I don’t like mango but when I said that both my friends and I thought the same thing: I should substitute mango with peach! This really inspired me and I had to try it: a peach smoothie.

So the next day, I went online and looked for some ideas. I could not find anything that looked so yummy that I had to try it straight away or for which I had all the ingredients. I also quickly felt overwhelmed by choice. So I left my computer, walked to the kitchen and opened the pantry to look at what I did have. All I knew was I wanted a peach smoothie!

And this recipe is what I came up with. And I loved it!

Me sharing this recipe may seem at odds with what I have just shared: you may not have all the ingredients and you may feel overwhelmed by having  one more recipe to try. But this post is about much more than sharing a recipe: it is about trusting your intuition.

I am not a chef. I have never learnt anything about cooking and how to mix flavours together. I know what I like and what I don’t like from previous recipes. For smoothies, my base is almost always the same:

  • 1 cup of almond milk (or other non-dairy milk)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • a generous sprinkle of cinnamon ground

Then I play with the rest. It’s hard to go wrong when you know what you like.

So I invite you to do the same. Make the smoothie you have always dreamt of but you can’t find anywhere. You know the one: the one that looks awesome on the menu of your favourite cafe but you wish they hadn’t put {insert what you don’t like} or would be great with {insert what you love}.

The Recipe

the smile maker :: peach strawberry smoothie


  • 1 cup of almond milk (or other non-dairy milk)
  • 2 heaped tbs of coconut yogurt
  • 1 peach
  • 4 strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • a generous sprinkle of cinnamon ground
  • 1 tsp of lucuma powder
  • 1 tsp of camu camu powder
  • 1 tsp of baobab fruit powder
  • 1 handful of mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup of coconut flakes
  • 1 tbs of goji berries


  1. Put everything (except coconut flakes and goji berries) in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Add coconut flakes and goji berries. Pulse a few times.
  3. Serve and enjoy!
